 The students took the skills they acquired from directed drawings and really got into transforming themselves into a Manga-style character. These turned out very good this year!

Na'vi-ize Yourself

 When Avatar came out I wasn't at all interested. We waited until it came out on DVD before we finally watched it. And though the movie was OK, it was visually STUNNING! since that night I have wanted to incorporate some type of art project centered around that film. in my research I found tons of adobe photo shop "how-to's" if one wanted to adapt their face into a Na'vi character. Too easy! That is how I came up with this project- same concept but low-tech!

 Day 2 proved to be successful overall. Students divided their paper into thirds, stayed completely quiet during the directed drawing portion and were excited about the character they were drawing. Below are some student samples of The Boy With Special Powers.
