The 8th grade class has a pen and ink unit coming up in May. I thought I would play around with a Torn Portrait project using pen and ink techniques. I'm not sure if we will incorporate this project this year, but it will definitely be something to consider! The process of completing the face after the magazine was torn was a challenge and some face proportion scaffolding would definitely be needed for this project. I would consider zentangles or text as well as traditional ink techniques too for this project, too- maybe offer up a choice. It sure is fun to play!
